چکیده
Objective: To identify factors related to recovery and quality of life in spinal cord injury. Research design: Non-experimental. Setting: SVNIRTAR and Regional Spinal Injury Centre (RSIC), Cuttack. Participants: 150 SCI subjects. Outcome measures: Questionnaire based on history, WHOQOL-BREF scale, Perceived stress scale (PSS), the satisfaction with life scale (TSWLS). Results and conclusion: Subjects with better functional recovery included those who underwent surgical treatment, spent less time at injury site, and had not lost consciousness and no neurological deterioration at site of injury. Also, QOL domains, perceives stress, satisfaction with life are not related. QOL and life satisfaction with complete and incomplete SCI are different. Similarly, satisfaction with life among married and unmarried subject is different. *Corresponding author: Patitapaban Mohanty, Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research, Olatpur, Bairoi, Cuttack, India, Tel: 0671 280 5552; E-mail: [email protected] Received April 05, 2016; Accepted May 16, 2016; Published May 18, 2016 Citation: Joshi K, Pattnaik M, Mohanty P (2016) Identification of Factors on Recovery and Quality of Life in Spinal Cord Injury. P 116: The Effect of Galectin-3 and Lanthionine Ketimine Ester in Neural Recovery after Spinal Cord Injury
Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a trauma that disturbs motor, sensitive and autonomic function and directly impacts the quality of life. After physical damage, releasing of pro-inflammatory proteins and cytokines occurs and with collaboration of immune system cells, an immune response begins in the brain tissue. The result of neuroinflammation is edema, apoptosis and release of axonal growth inhibi...

In spinal cord injuries, direct trauma by edges of sublaxated or dislocated vertebrae and indirect ischemia as a result of vascular injury necrotize the neural tissue. After spinal cord injury, tissue loss appears as micro- or macrocavitation. Accumulations of non-neuronal cells substitute spared tissue and halts axon regrowth. Lack of supporting cells (secreting trophic factors and matrix) agg...

Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a major clinical condition and research is commonly done to find suitable treatment options. However, there are some degrees of spontaneous recovery after SCI and gender is said to be a contributing factor in recovery, but this is controversial. This study was done to compare the effects of sexual dimorphism on spontaneous recovery after spinal cord inj...
